Privacy Policy

In short: the Mailscoop app collects no personal data. Your files are processed only on your Mac. We never see them, and we don't have servers that could receive them. The only personal data we may ever handle is what you send us yourself, for example when you email our support.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is COVERSTYLE · VAT IT07400070962 ("we", "us"). Contact: privacy@mailscoop.app.

2. The Mailscoop app

  • Local processing only. The files you open (PDF, Office documents, mailboxes, images…) are read on your Mac. Text recognition (OCR) uses Apple's on-device Vision framework.
  • No network access. The app runs in the macOS sandbox without permission to connect to the internet, so it cannot send your files or the extracted addresses anywhere.
  • No accounts, analytics, advertising or third-party SDKs. We don't track how you use the app.
  • Your results stay with you. Extracted addresses remain in the app until you close the session, or are saved only where you choose (CSV/TXT export, clipboard). Text you paste is written to a temporary file only for the duration of the scan and deleted immediately afterwards.
  • Local preferences. Settings and local usage counters are stored on your Mac and never leave it.
  • Crash reports. If you have chosen in macOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash and usage statistics under Apple's privacy policy. We cannot identify you from them.

On the App Store, the app is labelled "Data Not Collected".

3. Purchases

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple. The app only receives Apple's signed confirmation of your active plan and verifies it on your device. We never receive your name, Apple ID, email address or payment details; Apple only gives us aggregated sales reports. Apple acts as an independent controller: see Apple's privacy policy.

4. Addresses you extract

Because the app processes data only on your device, we are neither the controller nor the processor of the email addresses you extract. If you use them, for example to send messages, you are the controller and must comply with the GDPR and anti-spam laws, including having a valid legal basis such as consent.

5. This website (mailscoop.app)

  • The site uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party resources (no external fonts, scripts or embeds).
  • It is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany) on servers in the EU, acting as our processor.
  • To deliver a page, the server necessarily processes your IP address and browser request for the duration of the connection. We don't keep access logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. When you contact us

If you write to support@mailscoop.app or privacy@mailscoop.app, we process your email address, name (if provided) and the content of your message to answer you. Legal basis: steps you request and our legitimate interest in providing support (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We keep these messages for up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless a longer period is required by law. Our email provider, OVH SAS (France, EU), processes these messages on our behalf.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. To exercise them, write to privacy@mailscoop.app; we reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Italy the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or the authority of the EU country where you live or work.

8. Transfers outside the EU

We don't transfer personal data outside the European Union. Purchases through the App Store are governed by Apple's own policy.

9. Children

Mailscoop is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

10. Security

The website is served only over HTTPS with modern security headers, and our server accepts administrative access only with cryptographic keys. Because the app keeps your data on your device, its security mainly depends on your Mac: we recommend keeping macOS up to date and FileVault turned on.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, we'll publish the new version here and update the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
